There’s no doubt that good food paired with great service equals a happy customer. Well, that’s exactly what Happy Days Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Kaimuki delivers.

Conveniently located at the corner of Waialae and 11th avenues, Happy Days opened for business in August 2001 and has since become a landmark neighborhood Chinese Restaurant.

Serving authentic Hong Kong-style cuisine, there are more than 249 items on the menu, plus yummy dim sum (available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily).

But that’s not all. During a recent visit, co-owner Lisa Lum shared with us some of the tasty off-the-menu dishes.

These include: Salted Fish Pork Hash ($11.95), which is a Chinese country dish featuring a large plate-sized pork hash topped with salted fish and green onion; and Huk Gin Tofu ($11.95), which consists of tofu steamed with chicken, shrimp, vegetables and mushrooms.

As for a popular dish on the menu, Lum suggests Choy Sum with Shrimp ($14.95) with ginger, carrot, green onion, and mushroom, along with choy sum and garlic.

“We named the restaurant Happy Days because we like to see our customers so happy, and it’s easy to remember,” says Lum, who along with business partner Yung Sang Chan also own Nice Day Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Liliha. “We have good, quality food, fast service and a friendly staff. And we want to thank all the customers for coming all these years.”
